What is a ROIO?
ROIO (alternatively, RoIO) is an acronym meaning "Record of Illegitimate Origin" or "Record of Indeterminate Origin."
It is used by album collectors as an alternative term for bootleg when referring to unofficial music recordings. Collectors use the term to distinguish between "true" bootlegs, which are illicit copies of officially-released albums, and tracks or recordings whose legal status is difficult or even impossible to determine.
How to know if a lossless
file come from an MP3 sourced
You must use software to view the spectral view of the file
If the spectre is not up the 16Khz line, it is probably an MP3 sourced
As a picture is much better than a text, you'llfind here two views.
The first one is a non MP3 sourced and the second one is a lossy file
I've use the same original file

The first
one is FLAC>WAV
The second
one is FLAC>WAV>MP3>WAV
As you can see it, the difference is huge
- What software : I use Cool
Edit (unavailable) and TAUAnalyzer (http://www.true-audio.com/)
- How to use the software : you must first convert the file > a WAV file
then
On Cool Edit : Open the file and click on "View" - "Spectral View"
For TAU Analyzer, you must burn
a CD-AUDIO (you can use a RW,of course), then click on the "Analyse CD"

Normally for a lossless file you'll see "CDDA" and for an MP3 sourced
file you'll see "MPEG"

What I need to listen lossless files?
To play these formats you can find some plugins for the most popular players and OS.
Windows Tools:
Winamp can play SHN and FLAC files
Winamp needs a plugin that could be downloaded here
For FLAC tools go here .FLAC program can check flac files,encode and converts to wav when you must burn on cd.
If Winamp doesn't work with FLAC & SHN you can use an alternate program,Foobar2000.This program can play also APE files.

Why not MP3/VQF/AAC/ETC?
These compressions all use a
lossy algorithm. This means that over time, these lossy recordings can be re-extracted
and re-encoded so that it sounds very inferior to the original source. Lossless
algorithms such as Shorten (.shn) Flac and APE allow for pure digital reproductions.
